Antonio García Carrión Painter
I was born in Cádiz in 1962. From an early age drawing and painting drew me in. I grew up near the sea, among patios, Cádiz streets and that special light of the city — something that has deeply influenced the way I paint.
I started working very young, at fifteen, at CASA Cádiz, an aeronautical company that later became part of Airbus. There I spent my working life until early retirement in 2023.
Throughout those years painting was my hobby and my way of switching off. I painted whenever I could, learning little by little and enjoying the process.
In 1994 I took it more seriously and began training in Luis Gómez’s studio, learning drawing and pastel techniques. Later, in 2000, I entered Manuel Caballero’s studio — a very important stage where for ten years I could work and experiment with:
Watercolour Oil Acrylic
All of that helped me find my own way of painting.
Exhibitions and path
I have taken part in group exhibitions and in the Autumn Salons of the San Fernando Museum between 2005 and 2007.
In 2011 I held a solo exhibition at Hotel Las Cortes in Cádiz.
In 2022 I presented the exhibition:
“Zahara, Miracle of Light”
A collection of oils inspired by Zahara de los Atunes, a place that has always given me great calm and where the light has something special. That exhibition strongly marked my current way of working landscape and light.
In 2025 I also showed a collection at the Mullembar café, bringing painting into a closer, everyday setting.
My painting
I do not like to lock myself into a single style. I like to change according to what each painting asks for.
Sometimes I seek a more realist approach; other times I work more freely, giving importance to colour, texture or the feeling of the moment.
I greatly enjoy painting outdoors because the light constantly changes and that makes each painting different.
Today
Now, after many years balancing work and painting, I can dedicate more time to what truly moves me.
I keep painting with the same desire to learn and enjoy that I had when I began.
