Cádiz Cathedral

Cádiz is, above all, light. In this watercolour of the Cathedral my aim was not to draw a monument, but to catch the blinding Atlantic clarity on the stone. I let water and pigment flow freely to reflect that saline, vibrant atmosphere that makes the ‘Silver Cup’ unique. It is a work that seeks essence: less detail, more feeling. The Cathedral of Cádiz is not painted with colours — it is painted with light and salt.
