The Ecstasy of Dionysus (Bacchus)

In this painting I wanted to work emotion and symbolism more than the literal. The male figure, with a classical inspiration, stands for the spiritual or elevated, while the female figure brings the human and the near. The cup and the flame are the meeting point: a shared energy flowing between the earthly and the divine. I sought contrast with cool colours in the background and warmer tones in the figures for greater force. At heart it is a work about duality: the spiritual and the human living in balance.
